Vantage is pleased to announce that Michael Corn has joined our team as an Executive Strategic Consultant. Bringing more than 25 years’ experience in higher education and cybersecurity to the role, Michael is excited to channel his expertise on behalf of Vantage’s higher education clients.
Prior to joining Vantage, Michael served as the cybersecurity advisor for research infrastructure at the National Science Foundation. His experience in higher education includes roles as CISO at the University of California at San Diego; CISO, CPO and Deputy CIO of Brandeis University; CISO of the University of Illinois system; and CISO and Chief Privacy and Security Officer of the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign.
Michael’s areas of interest include research security, AI security, identity management, and organizational resilience. Michael’s work at Vantage will emphasize helping higher education institutions enhance and evolve their cybersecurity posture while making security and privacy principles accessible and useful for the entire campus community. He is also looking forward to utilizing his knowledge and experience to help clients discover strategic opportunities and harness innovation to advance institutional priorities.

Michael has been an active speaker and author on security and privacy and has participated in numerous EDUCAUSE and Internet2 initiatives. He was a member of the Internet2 Network Architecture, Operations and Policy (NAOP) Advisory Group; a past co-chair of the EDUCAUSE Higher Education Information Security Council (HEISC); and a member of the Research & Education Networks Information Sharing & Analysis Center (REN-ISAC) steering committee. He also helped found the Cybersecurity Maturity Model Certification Accreditation Body (CMMC AB) Academic Advisory Council.
Michael earned his bachelor’s degree at the University of Colorado at Boulder and his master’s degree from the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign.
