SUMMARY
Huntington Medical Research Institutes (HMRI) is an independent, nonprofit, applied medical research organization in Pasadena, California that conducts laboratory and clinical work for the development of technology used in the diagnosis and treatment of disease. HRMI opened a new 28,000 SF, three-story, multi-disciplinary medical research center featuring clinical spaces, seminar and training spaces, an auditorium, laboratories, and offices. Dedicated to neurosciences, cardiovascular disease, immunology and preeclampsia, the campus consolidates HMRI’s research into one building, fostering collaboration among all disciplines. With the new clinical space, patients can receive on-site treatment and immediate results from their care team.
Vantage worked with the design team and the client on the building’s core and shell infrastructure, as well as planning and designing the audiovisual, IT, and security technology systems for the tenant improvement. Working as a research and clinical space, one challenge was creating a secure, but welcoming environment. Vantage designed security systems that blend into the aesthetics of the building while ensuring staff, patients, and research are protected.
