Educational facilities are exposed to an increasing amount of complex issues related to school safety. With an increase in active shootings, especially in schools, the need to design safer environments is a top priority when planning new learning spaces.

Join Vantage’s Michael Dannenberg and a panel of distinguished leaders in design, psychology, and education on Thursday, August 23rd from 6pm-8pm as they discuss the emotional value and physical needs for a creating safe learning environments. Michael Pinto, Principal from NAC Architecture and Mariana Lavezzo from DLR Group will be leading the panel discussion.

This roundtable discussion will cover:

  • Becoming acquainted with the planning principles that promote both progressive learning environments and safety
  • Gaining insight into the community perspective on how they can be engaged in making schools safer yet welcoming environments in which they feel cared for
  • Understanding how the plan for learning environments that support the integration of emotional intelligence into the curriculum for all school levels and preventative strategies being used
  • Acquiring an understanding of contemporary thinking about the design of educational spaces
