Vantage Technology Consulting Group has been retained by the College of Southern Maryland to assist with a broad-reaching technology redesign initiative including:
- Design of a new data center
- Upgrade of the CSM WAN and Internet connections
- Outside plant and riser fiber optics, core/edge switches and WiFi
- Server room electrical, stand-by generators and HVAC
- Telephone systems replacement with an enterprise-wide unified communications system
Vantage is handling all aspects of the design including:
- Confirmation of existing conditions, verification of requirements, and review of costs and options
- Development of RFPs, drawings and specifications and cost estimates
- Procurement to solicit bids for supply and installation of the systems
- Project management and oversight of the system implementation
Vantage’s network infrastructure design work includes components for 6,500 data ports and 1,200 phones, unified communications, unified messaging, mobility, call center, emergency notification, E-911 location services, audio and videoconferencing, and other enhanced communications services for seven interconnected campuses. Upgrades include HVAC, power, and back-up power for 42 telecommunications closets, 6 server rooms and the College’s cable plant.
