The Ventura County Medical Center is a Regional Medical System with the hospital serving as the hub of a county-wide health care system in Ventura County, California. The hospital is also the primary safety-net hospital for Ventura County and a teaching hospital with programs for family practice residency, nurses, and other health care professionals.
To replace older facilities, to bring the hospital campus up to state seismic standards and to enhance the delivery of essential medical services, the County of Ventura embarked on 4-year Design/Build project for a replacement wing building. The new replacement wing includes 220,000 square feet of acute care facilities including: diagnostics and imaging, operating rooms, emergency department, intensive care and telemetry, medical and surgical units, obstetrics, neonatal and pediatric intensive care units.
This replacement wing was Design/Build project led by Clark Construction Group and HOK Architects. We were brought in by RG Group who served as the construction manager and owner’s representative on the project.
We preformed a peer review on all technology and IT System documents submitted by the Design/Build team against the project’s Basis of Design and RFP for compliance with standards. We also reviewed the Final Design/Build OSHPD submittal package for compliance and completeness. During construction, we monitored the project’s progress during the installation of technology infrastructure including IDF rooms, cabling risers and horizontal cable distribution.
Vantage also provided oversight of the technology systems commissioning process by witnessing functional and operational testing of Nurse Call, Code Blue System, Public Address/Overhead Paging, Intercom, Access Control, CCTV, CATV Television and Structured Cabling Systems.
“It’s really a celebration for our patients, who will be cared for and healed in the new building.”
