University of La Verne

Citrus Hall and The Spot Dining Hall

The University of La Verne is a private not-for-profit university located in La Verne, California, about 35 miles east of Los Angeles. Founded in 1891, the university offers 55 undergraduate programs and enrolls more than 8,000 students.

Citrus Hall is a new residential housing building strategically designed and built to create a natural flow through the heart of campus and to sustain a student-centered hub for students to gather. The vision was to create a natural connection that embraces the activity and energy happening inside and outside the building. The five-story, 116,000 square foot Citrus Hall includes community lounges, study spaces, and the 16,600 square foot The Spot dining hall. The residence hall will house approximately 400 students, mostly first-year and second-year students.

Building amenities include:

  • Main lounge on first floor that will included reception desk, student mailboxes, flat screen TVs w/ cable, recreational equipment, lounge furniture, outdoor lounge space, and a community kitchen
  • Two-story lounges that will connect different floors/communities as well as smaller lounges on each floor
  • Two study rooms per floor
  • Laundry rooms on each residential floor in the central tower
  • Wi-Fi and hardwire internet access throughout the building
  • Three elevators with electronic key card access to resident floors

Vantage worked closely with the architects, Steinberg Hart, to design, plan and commission all of the IT infrastructure including audiovisual, WiFi, telecommunications and security.

  • Student lounges feature an open architecture for easy collaboration and connection to new digital devices and older analog devices such as gaming consoles
  • Comprehensive WiFi coverage was designed for all spaces including residential, lounges and indoor/outdoor cafeteria locations
  • Digital information signage boards in The Spot can be easily and quickly updated with health and menu information
