Princeton University Blair Arch from Princeton University Website

Chartered in 1746, Princeton University is the fourth-oldest college in the United States. Princeton has 69 academic departments and over 3.6 million gross square feet of academic space within approximately 80 academic buildings.   The University places significant emphasis on classroom design including a continuous cycle of new construction, renovation and enhancement encompassing every type of cutting-edge learning technology from BYOD (bring your own device) classrooms to MOOCs (massive open online courses).

Vantage assists the University with strategic assessment, budgeting, programming and integrated design of a broad range of facilities including conference and seminar rooms, classrooms, lecture halls, performance venues, and even digital cinemas.

Our recent and current work includes:

  • Comprehensive technology upgrades for the McGraw Teaching and Learning Center, a lecture hall and 8 classrooms during summer 2014.
  • The comprehensive renovation of Taplin Auditorium in Fine Hall, a 200-seat music performance venue, recording studio, academic lecture hall and broadcast origination location.
  • Audiovisual systems and infrastructure redesign of four major lecture halls and twelve classrooms in Robertson Hall at the Woodrow Wilson School of Public and International Affairs.
  • Complete projection systems redesign of the Princeton Garden Theatre, a Hi-Def digital dual 200-seat cinema facility with surround sound.  In addition to serving the Princeton community as a first run commercial theater, the venue serves as a special event and presentation facility.
  • Programming, budgeting, design and construction administration of two historically significant classrooms in the prestigious McCosh Hall.
  • Programming, budgeting design and construction administration of a large multipurpose room at Forbes College.
  • The design of multiple departmental conference rooms, acoustical evaluation of the Office of General Council for privacy concerns, and various community noise assessments.

Vantage’s work has supported and enhanced the University’s goal of improving user-friendliness, streamlining and upgrading existing resources, preserving the architectural heritage of the campus, and preparing for new and emerging academic pedagogies.
