SUMMARY
MGA Entertainment, maker of the popular Bratz dolls, partnered with Uncommon to develop a new corporate headquarters and campus in Chatsworth, CA. This ambitious multi-phase development project will transform the 24-acre site of the former Los Angeles Times printing plant in the San Fernando Valley into a work and live community. The master plan for this mixed-use project, called 24, will eventually add 660 residential apartments, several retail shops and restaurants, a gym, two swimming pools, a sports park, a daycare facility, community gardens, an amphitheater and outdoor walking paths to the campus.
Vantage’s work on the project focused on the following five areas:
- Technology Planning – we confirmed the various technology and low voltage systems for the new facility and residential apartments
- Technology Infrastructure Design – we designed the infrastructure to support the technology systems including data center, technology rooms, campus underground optical fiber network, security command center, multipurpose auditorium, outdoor movie pavilion and conference rooms
- Systems Design and Procurement – we provided system designs for the data network system, telephone and voice systems, audiovisual, video conferencing and media presentation systems, and access control and video surveillance systems
- Installation and Commissioning – we managed the technology system vendors by reviewing submittals, answering RFI, coordinating installation timeframes and inspecting installation
- Move-in and Project Closeout – we coordinated technology-related cut-overs and addressed open issues before closing out the project
MGA’s goal for their HQ building was to create a flexible and enticing work environment that enables the company to change and react quickly to new initiatives, motivate staff with a stimulating work space and support changing technologies in the future.
