The West Campus Expansion project at Antelope Valley Community College (the “Marauders”) expanded and renovated the College’s 55 acre sports field and stadium. The project included new parking lots, renovation and expansion of Physical Education fields and a renovation of Marauder Stadium. The work consisted of two regulation soccer fields, two physical education fields, a half mile running track with fitness circuit, a law enforcement academy obstacle practice course, baseball stadium, softball stadium, and track and field throws area. All facilities are used by physical education classes as well as for Marauder athletic teams and are also made available to the community on a scheduled basis to promote youth sports including football, soccer, baseball and softball.
The renovation of Marauder Stadium was the first major facelift for this heavily used venue in over 40 years. The 4,000-seat multipurpose stadium was updated to meet current standards for football, soccer and track and field and boasts a state of the art media facility, two broadcast booths, a large media area, video room and a VIP suite. The stadium will also continue to host numerous community events for the American Cancer Society’s Walk of Life, Special Olympics, AYSO Tournament Opening Ceremonies, Veterans Stand Down, graduation ceremonies and many other community and college special events.
