SUMMARY

500 Broadway is a 7-story building containing 249 studio one-, two and three-bedroom apartments atop 55,000 square feet of ground-floor retail space and basement parking. This mixed-use development is on the site of the former Fred Segal store in Santa Monica, CA and includes large courtyards and setbacks at the property’s ground floor to provide space for outdoor dining and community gathering.

Vantage is providing IT and security systems consulting for the project. The building supports high-speed network connections to multiple phone, TV and Internet Service Providers making each unit ready for smart home services and devices.  We leveraged Gigabit Passive Optical Network (GPON) backbone architecture for the data cabling system which provides flexibility for the building’s network architecture and achieves a scalable solution for future growth.

Specifically, we designed the information technology infrastructure to:

  • Accommodate incoming voice, data and video services
  • Route infrastructure to each floor and each unit in the building
  • Develop a riser cabling system to bring copper, coax and fiber cables to network closets on each floor and horizontal distribution to a smart hub in each unit
  • Provide a voice system linking each apartment to the security desk
  • Design wireless network access for all common areas
  • Support audiovisual systems for electronic signage, background music and paging in the common areas
  • State of the art audiovisual systems for amenity spaces including concealed landscape speakers in the outside lounge and pool areas
  • Coordinate security systems such as access control, CCTV, intrusion detection and alarm systems throughout the common areas
