HD Media Distribution Strategy
Location: Charlottesville, VA
Client: University of Virginia Darden School of Business
The University of Virginia (UVA) Darden School of Business engaged Vantage to assess existing systems and infrastructure, and to plan for an upgrade to the facility-wide media distribution backbone in order to support and make best use of high-definition video technologies in the pedagogy.
Vantage lead collaborative sessions with the AV, Broadcast Media, and IT departments to identify and reuse the maximum amount of existing infrastructure in order to control costs. As part of the work, Vantage made recommendations that could join video distribution networks serving three previously separate portions of the Darden campus.
Vantage provided a peer review and comparison with media distribution technologies at five of the School’s peer institutions.
Vantage identified and prepared pros and cons of three main upgrade strategies suitable for the School, identified budgets and prepared a phased implementation strategy for each. In concert with the school, Vantage recommended an optimum solution. Using the report the school was able to initiate a successful fund-raising campaign, and to plan and procure the selected upgrade strategy.
