Project Description:

Opened in July 2011, Marion and John E. Anderson Pavilion at Children’s Hospital Los Angeles allows CHLA to transform the practice of pediatric medicine, benefiting its patients, families and hospital caregivers for generations to come.  CHLA asked children, families, clinicians, and former and current patients to help design the Marion and John E. Anderson Pavilion and their comments helped create an inpatient hospital facility that incorporates cheery surroundings, more areas to be a kid and more space for families.

The patient rooms in the Pavilion have distinct “family zones,” offering space for parents to stay overnight in the same room with their child. In addition, the Pavilion incorporates outdoor dining facilities and spacious gardens, the state-of-the-art Helen and Bill Close Family Resource Center with Internet access, multilingual print and video reference materials and referrals to support groups, and a 24-hour Family Pantry to meet the needs of families who want to remain at the bedside around the clock. Each floor includes a family lounge with spaces for quiet and reflection, as well as family alcoves.  Vantage worked with CHLA to ensure that the new patient-friendly facility features the latest in clinical and information technology systems to support the needs of patients, physicians and staff.
