Vantage to Manage Implementation of
PBX Systems for University of New Mexico
(Albuquerque, NM - December 2005) Having
successfully assisted in the RFP development, process management,
and subsequent contract negotiations for new PBX systems and
maintenance, Vantage was recently selected to continue to
assist the University of New Mexico in managing the implementation
of the new systems. Scheduled to take eight months, the work
involves the forklift replacement of UNM's largest NEC PBX
(11,000 ports) and the software and hardware upgrade of the
9,000 port system serving the UNM Hospital. IP-based management
and user services are included in the implementation as is
a new maintenance agreement covering the entire 24,000 port
voice network.
The University of New Mexico's academic
and medical campuses occupy over 600 acres in the heart of
Albuquerque with over 24,000 students. Networked PBXs provide
over 24,000 lines of telephone service and the data network
currently consists of over 30,000 connections.
Vantage Helps to Develop Next Generation
of Experimental Technology Classrooms for Emerson College

(Boston, MA - October 2005) Vantage
Technology Consulting Group has been appointed to develop
detailed requirements for an experimental technology classroom
at Emerson College Boston, MA.
To accomplish its mission of “bringing
innovation to communication and the arts”, Emerson College
already uses well equipped “smart classrooms” in most of its
courses, and is now looking to create the next generation
of facilities and systems with the potential to enable and
support new pedagogical styles based on technology.
The project includes a collaborative and
inclusive programming phase with participation from the administration,
faculty, campus technology departments and the students; an
assessment of appropriate educational technologies; infrastructure
design; and a structured system implementation phased in over
the next three academic years.
Vantage to Hold Classroom Technology
Roundtables at University of New Mexico
(Albuquerque, NM - October 2005)
As an add-on to its IT organizational and governance work
at the University of New Mexico, Vantage is working with the
University’s CIO to organize and hold formal roundtable discussions
on classroom technology with select faculty and students.
UNM wishes to improve and expand on the uses of technology
to enhance teaching and learning. Vantage’s work will involve
a review of existing classroom technologies in use at UNM
and will lead an exploration of potentially beneficial new
technologies available now and in the future. The end result
will be a report with recommendations on how to best implement
new technologies and expand their use cost effectively across
campus.

Vantage Provides Technology Consulting
Services for Golden West College Learning Resource Center
(Huntington Beach, CA - September 2005)
Scheduled to open in 2008, the new 55,000 sf Learning
Resource Center at Golden West College will house the library
collections, computer classrooms, computer labs, tutoring
spaces and a production space for on-line course material.
Vantage Technology Consulting Group is providing technology
consulting services for the wired and wireless Information
Technology systems as well as Audio Visual technologies being
designed for study rooms, conference rooms, classrooms and
the on-line education production space. Vantage will integrate
existing technology systems into the buildings design, seek
opportunities for the use of next generation technologies
to contribute to the learning environment and ensure that
provisions are made in the building for future technology
installations.
Vantage is teamed with Steinberg Architects.
The design team is scheduled to complete the programming and
schematic design phases by the end of 2005.
Vantage Assists Cerritos College With
Technology Master Plan
(Cerritos, CA - September 2005) Vantage
has been selected to complete the Technology Infrastructure
Master Plan for Cerritos College. Vantage will complete the
campus infrastructure design as part of a campus wide utilities
infrastructure design team headed by S & K Engineers. This
master planning effort will be completed by the beginning
of 2006. The project is being completed as part of the District's
G.O. bond projects that include campus upgrades, new building
construction and existing building renovations.
Vantage Contributes to ACUTA's Journal
of Communications in Higher Education
(Boston, MA - August 2005) Vantage
Principal Richard Bussell and Vantage Senior Consultant Mike
Grunder were recently featured in the Summer issue of the
ACUTA Journal of Communications Technology in Higher Education.
The issue focused on “Supporting Classroom Technologies and
Remote Campuses”. Richard contributed an article on “Planning
for Classroom Audiovisual Technologies”. The article addresses
some of the basic issues that determine success or failure
of new technology projects. Mike was the featured consultant
in the “Here’s My Advice” column. He wrote on project management
and the importance of good communications and the pitfalls
of underestimating the often significant consequences of avoiding
small issues. The ACUTA Journal is published by the
Association of Communications Technology Professionals in
Higher Education.
Project Programming Completed, Design
Phase Begins for Caltech's New Cahill Center for Astrophysics
(Pasadena, CA - August 2005) Located
on the main Caltech campus, the new center is programmed at
100,000 sq ft with a $45 million construction budget and will
provide a collective home for Caltech’s varied programs in
astronomy and astrophysics. Vantage is providing consulting
services for systems design for both information technology
systems and infrastructure, as well as audiovisual presentation
and collaboration systems throughout the facility. Initial
plans for the building include a lecture hall, classrooms,
laboratories and remote observation rooms for telescopes around
the globe. Construction is scheduled to begin in August of
2006 and the new facility is scheduled to open in early 2008.

Services for Huntington Hospital's New West Tower

(Pasadena, CA - August 2005) Founded
in 1892, Huntington Memorial Hospital is one of the largest
non-profit hospitals in California and has a proud history
of involvement in medical education and research, technological
innovation and community leadership. Currently under construction,
the Hospital’s new West Tower will include 96 patient rooms,
a café, a private dining room for physicians, a multi-purpose
room and a receiving dock. The West Tower mirrors the existing
East Tower and completes the vision for a revitalized healthcare
facility documented in the Hospital’s Master Plan by architects
and engineers, HDR Inc.

Vantage Helps Miller Children's Hospital
to Provide Safe Haven for Children

(Long Beach, CA - August 2005) The
new 120,000 sf addition to Miller Children's Hospital, located
on the Long Beach Memorial Medical Center campus and scheduled
to open in 2008, includes seven operating rooms, a new pediatric
imaging center, 48 neonatal intensive care beds, and 24 general
pediatric beds. The building's architect - Taylor & Associates
- has created a safe haven for children by combining the most
advanced medical care with a healing environment by including
playful and distracting public spaces, outdoor garden spaces,
private patient rooms that engage the imagination and treatment
spaces that promote education and knowledge.

Vantage Selected to Assist College
of the Desert with Technology Infrastructure Master Plan and
Technology Standards
(Palm Desert, CA - July 2005) Vantage
has been selected to complete the Technology Infrastructure
Master Plan and the Campus Technology Standards for College
of the Desert. Vantage will complete the campus infrastructure
design as part of a campus wide utilities infrastructure design
team headed by S & K Engineers. The Technology Standards will
be completed as part of the campus architectural design standards
headed by tBP Architects. These master planning efforts will
be completed by the end of this year in preparation for the
design and construction of six new buildings being added to
the campus over the next ten years. The campus master planning
and new buildings, added through Measure B funding, will help
College of the Desert to continue serving its students located
in the Coachella Valley.
Vantage Principals Phil Crompton and
David Gales Contribute to Article on Digital Ink in
ARCHI·TECH Magazine
(Manhattan Beach, CA - July 2005) Vantage's
Phil Crompton and David Gales were contributors for an article
entitled, Digital Ink on Digital Paper, Flexible Signage Opens
Doors to Innovation by David Weiss in a recent issue of ARCHI·TECH
magazine. The article discusses and explores the real world
uses of digital paper, which is sometimes referred to as "digital
ink," and the recent developments of this technology. While
still in the early stages of use, the future of this quickly
maturing technology is already looking to be quite promising
to architects and designers of public spaces.

Vantage Selected to Provide Technology
Consulting Services for Fontana Public Library and
Resource Center
(Fontana CA - July 2005) Vantage
Technology Consulting Group is working with the Fontana City
Council and the San Bernardino County Librarians to design
a state-of-the-art library and resource technology center.
The new library will be a two story 93,000 sq ft facility
located over a 200 vehicle parking garage. The library collection
size would house 323,000 items, including 5,000 reference
items, 12,000 media items and 720 current periodical subscriptions.
Vantage is providing technology consulting
services for the wired and wireless Information Technology
systems as well as Audio Visual technologies being designed
for study rooms, career and literacy centers, public meeting
rooms, conference rooms and a 300-350 seat auditorium. Scheduled
to begin construction in summer 2005, the library shall open
in second quarter 2007. The Los Angeles office of RNL is the
architect for the project.
Vantage to Assist Brandeis University
with Online and Distance Learning Tools and Facilities
(Waltham, MA - July 2005) Brandeis
University recently appointed Vantage to develop campus-wide
standards for educational technology in classrooms and lecture
theaters. In an expanded role, Vantage is providing assistance
with development of plans for online and video-based distance
learning tools and facilities. Working with university representatives
from faculty, administration, the facilities group and the
Office of Information Technology, Vantage has identified five
distinct distance learning formats and is developing specifications
for facilities and technology tools to serve each.
Vantage Chosen as Cathedral Hill Hospital's
Technology Integration Consultant
(San Francisco, CA - May 2005) Vantage
has been chosen by California Pacific Medical Center, a member
of the Sutter Health organization, to be the Technology Integration
Consultant for CPMC's new Cathedral Hill Hospital development
in San Francisco, CA. Scheduled to open in 2012, Cathedral
Hill Hospital will be a 1,500,000 sq ft hospital housing combined
Acute Care facilities and a Women's and Children's Hospital
in a single building. Located at the junction of Van Ness
Avenue and Geary Boulevard, the Hospital will encompass a
full city block and will become a distinctive landmark in
San Francisco for the high quality of healthcare it will represent.
The goal of Cathedral Hill Hospital is
to provide an extraordinary patient/family experience induced
by an enhanced physician and staff work environment. It will
be a state of the art medical facility, housing the most advanced
medical technology, using the most current healthcare delivery
methods and delivered by some of the best healthcare professionals
in the world. As Technology Integration Consultant, Vantage
will work with CHH to create a Technology Program for the
facility, develop a schedule and budget for the technologies,

University with Telecommunications Disaster Recovery Planning

a continuation of its current work at Temple University, Vantage
has been selected to assist the University in telecommunications
disaster recovery planning. The effort will include the development
of disaster avoidance and recovery strategies and plans for
their voice and data network systems and infrastructure.

Consulting Group has successfully completed technology systems
improvements for the City of Tustin council chamber as part
of the architectural refurbishment of the chamber. The technology
upgrade streamlines the way meetings are conducted in the
chamber by facilitating new functionality including electronic
agenda and voting capabilities, multi-media presentation control
from the podium and staff desks, and software upgradeable
touch screen control capabilities at each dais position. The
entire system is controlled by the City Clerk through a touch
screen control panel featuring a customized graphical user
interface.
Good Samaritan New Cancer Research Center
Completed

(Puyallup, WA - March 2005) The new Cancer
Research Center at Good Samaritan Hospital in Puyallup, Washington,
offers some of the world's most advanced cancer-fighting diagnostic
technology, comprehensive support services for patients and
families, and an expansion of Good Samaritan's cancer research
laboratory. Vantage provided technology consulting services,
architectural integration and systems design services for
nurse call technologies for the $16 million Good Samaritan
Cancer Center. The 50,000 sq ft treatment and research facility
integrates state-of-the-art technologies to create an environment
to support and enrich high quality patient care and comprehensive
cancer research.
Vantage to Provide Technology Project Management
and Financial Analysis for Temple University
(Philadelphia, PA - March 2005) Vantage
has been selected to assist Temple University in three areas
of endeavor. The first project involves writing and assisting
in the negotiation of a new multi-year maintenance agreement
for the University’s 32,000 line, multi-node EADS PBX system
serving the University’s five campuses. The second project
calls for Vantage to write an RFP for University Internet
connectivity, both commodity Internet and Internet 2 connections.
Vantage will manage the entire RFP process; interfacing with
vendors, assisting in the evaluation of responses, and negotiating
contracts. In a third project, Vantage will assist Temple
in evaluating current internal rate structures and in developing
new cost based rates for voice and data network services.
