Harvard Business School
“Technology is like air on our campus
– it's everywhere!" - Dean Kim B. Clark
“Harvard Business School literally surrounds
students with technology, building it into the physical learning
environment with new and experimental classrooms.”
Harvard Business School employs advanced presentation
technology, video captures and a web cast video distribution system
to enable students in each of the ten first year MBA case study
rooms to view presentations originating in any other case study
room, and to interact with the presenter.
Vantage was engaged by Harvard Business School
to propose a forward looking, five year plan for specialist technologies
to support the case study teaching method in future generations
of the classic Harvard case study room.
The project started with needs analysis designed
to clearly identify the relationship between operational requirements
and technology solutions. The resulting report recommended changes
in approach that will make a substantial cost reduction in future
installed systems; recommended convergence of data and video transmission
to solve campus distribution issues; and identified three emerging
technologies that will provide significant enhancement to the pedagogy
when they reach a price point viable for wide spread installation.
The recommendations were incorporated into
budget requests approved for technology spending over the next four
years.
