University Case Library
Enhancing the Availability of Technology
to Access Information for a University Library
Colgate University is planning a renovation
and addition to the Case Library. The Case Library occupies a central
site on campus linking the upper and lower quads and is a popular
location for students engaged in intense study and students seeking
a casual place to meet. The project design responds to those student
needs, as well as to a desire to enhance the availability and use
of technology to access information within the library.
The project will house the library staff and
library materials (many of which will be housed in an automated
storage and retrieval system) together with the campus information
technology staff, the campus data center and the network operations
center. The vision for universal access to information will be realized
through the inclusion of extensive media production, duplication,
distribution and support facilities, ubiquitous wireless network
access, dedicated distance learning classrooms, small group videoconference
facilities and computer training classrooms and labs.
